MARTÍ SERRA

Marti Serra has studied both classical and modern music. In 1998 he obtained a “Professional Degree” in classical saxophone at the Conservatori Professional de Musica de Badalona , with top grades. Then he moved to Boston , Masachussets, to study at Berklee College of Music. He also studied as a private student with trombonist Hal Crook and saxophonist George Garzone.

Marti Serra is currently playing as a sideman in several jazz groups in Catalonia . Some of them, like Jordi Matas Quintet (featuring Jorge Rossy), Giulia Valle Group and Raynald Colom have recorded with the well-known label “Fresh Sound New Talent”. He has been working as a professional musician since 1994. He was rewarded as “Best Musician of The Year” in 2003 and “Best Saxophone Player” in 2004 by the Jazz Musicians Association of Catalonia.

Besides his career as a performer, he is teaching saxophone, improvisation techniques and ear training at the Escola de Musica de Badalona .
