Joan Antoni Pich Caneda
Born in 1974, he began his studies in the Conservatori Professional de Badalona with Professor Mark Friedhoff. Later he became a pupil of Peter Thiemann in Barcelona and Maria de Macedo in Madrid, obtaining his Professional Degree with the best qualifications. He finished his studies under guidance of professor Michael Müller in The Hague (the Netherlands). He followed lessons by renowned cellists like Bernard Greenhouse, Janos Starker , Cristophe Coin and Luis Claret and chamber musicians such as Ferenc Rados, Hugh Maguire and the Alban Berg Quartet.
A winner of the Manresa Chamber Music Competition, he has also been successful in competitions in Capellades, Terrassa and Badajoz performing with the pianist Álex Ramírez.
Currently playing as pricipal cello in the Granollers Chamber Orchestra and the Gran teatre del Liceu Chamber Orchestra , he is often invited to play with ensembles like Barcelona 216 (contemporary music), Barcelona Collage, and symphony orchestras all over Spain (Barcelona, Madrid, Bilbao, etc...). He is currently teaching cello in the Escola de Música de Barcelona .
