Xavier Castillo

 

Born in Badalona, studied clarinet there with Alfons Carbonell, obtaining his professional diploma with top grades. Later he was awarded the Master´s Diploma at the Barcelona Conservatorium, and a licenciate in Music Pedagogy at the Barcelona University. He also followed lessons with clarinetists Michel Lethiec, J.L. Estellés, J.E. Lluna, Michel Arrington and Wolfgang Meyer. Josep Fuster and Hans Deinzer have been his most important musical influences so far.

He is often invited to join the main orchestras and ensembles in Spain (National Orchestra, Barcelona Opera and Symphony Orchestras, Teatre Lliure , etc.). As a soloist he gave the première of the Concerto for Clarinet and Banda by Miquel Roger in the Auditori of Barcelona. He teaches Clarinet in the Conservatories of Badalona and Sabadell. He is also a member of the Clarinets a4 Quartet, and Director of the Prades International Clarinet Course.
